  • Prepare and review the management accounts pack with clear variance analysis, commentary and actions against budget, forecast and prior periods.
  • Drive the monthly invoicing cycle, working with the operations/commercial teams to ensure onboarding, memberships, sales invoices, revenue recognition and deferred income are complete and accurate.

  • Oversee the Workshop Group subsidiary management accounts pack prepared by the assistant management accountant; review the P&L, balance sheet reconciliations and commentary before submission.
  • Business partner with senior leadership team and operational heads to explain results, investigate variances, identify risks/opportunities and support cost control decisions.
  • Ownership of business rates management, lead periodic cost reviews across business rates, utilities, parking, facilities and supplier spend to identify savings, billing errors and process improvements.
  • Maintain a robust month-end timetable, working papers and evidence file for management reporting.
  • Coach and support junior finance colleagues on coding discipline, reconciliations, cut-off, management accounts preparation and issue escalation.
  • Support the Group Finance Manager with audit schedules, year-end close, statutory audit queries and continuous improvement of finance processes and controls.
  • May require business travel across Plexal and related Group sites.
  • Ability to manage and influence through both face-to-face and virtual team environments.
  • This role is intended to sit above pure transactional processing and below Group Finance Manager level.

Your Skills

  • Strong month-end discipline with the ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines without close supervision.
  • Commercially analytical; able to interpret P&L, balance sheet and operational drivers and turn numbers into clear actions.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including reconciliations, lookups, pivots, modelling and clear review trails.
  • High attention to detail with a strong control mindset and willingness to improve processes, not just follow existing ones.
  • Able to prepare concise commentary and present financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
Desirable
  • Experience using Power BI or Dynamics Business Central.
  • Comfortable improving workflows in a finance system environment.

Your Experience

  • Comfortable operating in a changing, growing business with imperfect information and evolving processes.
  • Credible and calm when dealing with operational stakeholders, suppliers and internal finance colleagues.
  • Organised, resilient and able to prioritise between month-end, business partnering, controls and ad hoc requests.
